GENERAL INFORMATION

Contact Information

Please email hello@lulujackson.co.nz or contact me here to make an enquiry.

The Lulu Jackson Bridal atelier is based in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand and operates between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

LJB is not your usual bridal boutique, it is a simple, small scale design and production operation where all garments are made in house by the designer. My atelier is a relaxed, humble space where magic happens.

Booking Information

Once an enquiry has been made, we will usually arrange a consultation to discuss in further detail how the process works and the design of your dream wedding dress.

When making an enquiry, please let me know where you are based as this will affect the production and fitting process of your garment(s). LJB welcomes international customers.

If you are unable to attend a consult in Mount Maunganui, your consult may be held via video chat or may be discussed over email.

Please note that all Lulu Jackson Bridal garments are made in house. A lot of time is spent in the atelier making your garments therefore emails may not be responded to immediately. I try to reply within 3 working days.

I am working with many customers at any one time and often need to refer back to our conversations throughout the production of your wedding dress, so please keep all communications via email.

My consultations are free of charge and come with no obligations. Once your dream wedding garment(s) have been discussed at our consultation, should you decide you would love a custom made Lulu Jackson Bridal wedding garment(s), a 50% deposit is required on the quoted amount in order to confirm your booking. Once paid you are confirmed as a Lulu Jackson Bridal customer, and the design and production of your garment commences. It also confirms you agree to the terms and conditions and all information provided in this link.

Consultations

This is our first meeting to get to know each other and discuss your dream wedding dress in detail.

At our consult I will further discuss how the process works when having your wedding dress custom designed and made and what may work best for you. I will help to guide you on the style, fit, details and fabric options which may work best for you, based off my own designs. We’ll also look at dates and pricing.

If you can’t make it to Mount Maunganui, your consult may be held over email or video chat.

My consultations are free of charge and come with no obligations. Consultations may take between 0.5 and 1.5 hours. and are usually made between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. I may offer out of hours consultations where necessary.

Timeframes

All Lulu Jackson Bridal garments are made in house in my Mount Maunganui atelier. So, timeframes are flexible. However, please try to contact Lulu Jackson Bridal at least 6 months before your event date. It usually takes about 4-6 months to make your garment. This is a guide only and timeframes may vary depending on circumstances and design of the garment. Your garment is typically ready 4-6 weeks before your event day, but up to 2 weeks before the day, unless discussed otherwise in advance. Garment fittings may be required within the production timeframe. More urgent orders may be possible depending on availability. Please get in contact for availability and details.

Pricing and Payment Information

All prices are quoted in New Zealand Dollars and exclude shipping charges. Gowns typically start at $3000 NZD and the quoted amount will depend upon the design and level of customisation of the garment(s). The quote is an estimate only and is subject to change. The final price is dependent on the design, fabrication and time required from consultation to collection/delivery of the final garment(s). Two payments are required for your order. Lulu Jackson Bridal requires a 50% deposit on the quoted amount to confirm for your order, and initiate the design process and production of your garment. Once the garment is complete, your final cost will be confirmed and the outstanding amount is required for payment before your garment may be collected. All payments are due 7 days after the invoice date unless discussed otherwise.

Custom Made Garments

All Lulu Jackson Bridal garments are custom made, to order. They are designed and made in-house in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, by Lulu Jackson.

All intellectual property including discussions with the designer, the garment(s) design, drawings, pattern and samples remains the sole property of Lulu Jackson Bridal.

Lulu Jackson Bridal does not replicate works by other designers. If you have found something you love from another designer please purchase it directly from them.

There are three tiers of customisation your garment may fall under:

Tier 1 - fully custom designed and made -  A consultation is highly recommended where we would discuss all of the details of the dream garment. Your measurements usually will be taken at this point unless discussed otherwise. The garment will be designed for you and made to order, to fit your body, based on your personal measurements.

Concept, development and/or final design drawings are included in the service and sent via email for discussion and approval. This is a fluid and collaborative process. Please note these sketches are a reference only. An updated quote may be issued once the final design is approved, it may depend on the design and fabrication and be at the discretion of Lulu Jackson Bridal.

Once a design is confirmed, the creation of a mock up sample of your dress will likely follow, depending on your design and requirements. I’ll then contact you to make an appointment for your first fitting. At this fitting you see your dress in reality for the first time! The fit, fabrication and all design details are scrutinised by the customer and the designer at this point. This is the time you must discuss any changes you wish to make or qualms you may have. The mock up sample is made in a suitable fabric and finished as it needs to be for you to be able to visualise the real thing. Please remember that this is a mock-up sample and there may be small fit issues and details to be discussed and reconsidered, at the discretion of the designer. Important discussions made at the mock up fitting will be recorded.

Next, the production of the final garment* commences with all of the beautiful finishing details to complete the garment(s). Once your garment is ready, a final fitting will be required. The garment is finished and accepted as final at this point. Unless discussed otherwise, at the fitting.

*Depending on the complexity of the design, the mock up sample may be produced as the final garment(s).

Tier 2 - from the collection*, with customisations to the design - You love a garment from the Lulu Jackson Bridal sample collection but it isn’t quite perfect for you, or you want something a little different. We will discuss all of the details during your consultation. If you wish to view or try on the sample dresses please note samples may not be available in your size. A consultation in person is recommended but details may be discussed over email.

A final design drawing is included in the service and sent via email for approval. The garment will be made to order to fit your body based on your personal measurements. A quote will be determined after the consultation, it will depend on the level of customisation and be at the discretion of Lulu Jackson Bridal.

Tier 3 - from the collection* - You have selected a garment from the Lulu Jackson Bridal sample collection. This will be made to order to your standard NZ size based on your personal measurements. A consult is not required but may be arranged if you wish to view or try on the sample dresses. Samples may not be available in your size.

If you do not wish to arrange a consult in house, please see the measurements chart and notes on how to measure. If you are in between sizes please order up a size and provide your measurements via email.

*please note the Lulu Jackson Bridal collection is currently under production so only Tier 1, fully custom made garments, are available at this time.

Fitting Information

Depending on the garments level of customisation you may be required to travel to Mount Maunganui for fittings. Fully custom made garments will require 1-3 fittings. Garments purchased from the collection or with some customisations may be made using your measurements taken at the time of consultation and may not require fittings. Lulu Jackson Bridal will contact you to make appointments* for mock-up sample fittings, final fittings or re-fits when necessary.

Please bring to all fittings the shoes, undergarments and any other accessories you are planning to wear on the day. Please don’t wear fake tan or oily skin products as they may stain the fabric. Please also avoid heavy makeup.

You may like to bring to your fitting a bridesmaid, friend or family member for an extra set of eyes, or just for fun! If so, it is recommended that you bring the same people to all fittings. The atelier is a small space so please bring no more than 2 extra people to fittings. It’s also not very safe for children. Important discussions made at fittings will be recorded by Lulu Jackson Bridal. All details discussed at fittings are final. All mock-up samples are, and will remain, the property of Lulu Jackson Bridal.

*Fitting appointments may be postponed at times due to unforeseen circumstances, at the discretion of Lulu Jackson Bridal.

Measurement and Sizing Information

The fit of your garment(s) is based on the bust, waist and hip measurements Lulu Jackson Bridal takes at the time of consultation. If you are unable to attend a consultation, you will need to supply your measurements. Please refer to the sizing chart below for guidance on how to measure. You may also need to provide your height. Please separately provide the heel height of the shoes you will be wearing on the event day. Please do not hesitate to contact Lulu Jackson Bridal for any measurement or sizing enquiries or concerns.

Should your body shape, based on these measurements, change from the time they are taken/received until delivery/collection, it may require changes to the pattern and/or design and this may affect the final cost of the garment(s). Please advise Lulu Jackson Bridal promptly if you expect these measurements have changed or will change at any time from when they are taken/received until your event day.

Collection/Delivery Information

Once your garment is complete, Lulu Jackson Bridal will issue a final invoice. Upon payment of the final invoice your garment will be ready for collection or delivery. This may include a final fitting. It is the customers responsibility to collect the garment from Lulu Jackson Bridal in Mount Maunganui, NZ. Garments will be collected hanging in a garment bag.

If postage is required, the garment(s) will be folded and shipped at the customers expense. The shipping cost is not included in the quoted amount. Tracking and details of your shipment will be sent once the garment has been dispatched. Please be sure to notify Lulu Jackson Bridal if you will require your garment to be shipped so transit time can be allocated. Items lost or damaged in the post will not be refunded or exchanged, but will be covered by standard postal insurance.

Fabric Information

Lulu Jackson Bridal uses high quality natural fabrics such as silk, linen and cotton. While these fabrics have many wonderful qualities such as breathability and luxurious hand feel, it is accepted that they are also more prone to creasing and absorbing moisture spots than their synthetic counterparts. Fabric of this nature may carry minor slubs and imperfections which are not faults.

Fabric is selected due to what is available at the time of design. Sometimes, there may be very slight differences between batches of the same fabric. Or, due to forces beyond our control, the chosen fabric may not be available. If the chosen fabric is unavailable for any reason Lulu Jackson Bridal will make every effort to source something similar or arrange a beautiful alternative. The fabrics and techniques used are delicate and cannot handle undue stress, therefore any faults occurring after delivery will not be considered as poor quality or make.

Garment Care

Lulu Jackson Bridal garments are made using high quality natural fabrics. The fabrics and methods used are delicate and tender care is recommended. Please follow these guidelines for best care of your garment:

Your garment may crease a little during transport or storage. A light steam will help to remove any creases.

Ensure you steam your garment at least one day before the wedding. Please be aware, incorrect use of a steamer may damage the natural fibres in the fabric. Only use a steamer if you have tested the appliance first. Keep the steamer at least 20cm away from the fabric. Steam lightly on a low heat.

Alternatively, you can hang your garment in a steamy bathroom. Don’t leave it in there for too long, 30 seconds is a good amount of time. After you bring it out of the bathroom the creases will continue to drop out. Repeat if necessary. It is important to avoid any water or excess moisture build up when steaming.

Alternatively, take your garment to a trustworthy dry cleaner for a professional press. Ensure you tell your dry cleaner the fabric content of your garment.

Keep your garment hanging freely after steaming. Store your garment hanging, somewhere safe and dry.

Lulu Jackson Bridal garments should only be professionally dry cleaned. Ensure you tell your dry cleaner the fabric content of your garment.

Please do not iron your garment.

Please do not machine or hand wash your garment.

Once a garment has been collected, garment care is the customers responsibility. Dry cleaners are professionals and responsible for the correct care of your garment when it is in their hands. Lulu Jackson Bridal will not be responsible for any ill care of garments.

Imagery

Lulu Jackson Bridal customers are encouraged to send in any photos from their wedding day! I love to share these on my social media channels and in my portfolio. I try to credit all people and vendors involved or included in shared photos but sometimes it may be missed. Please do not hesitate to notify me about this. Likewise, I welcome you to please credit @lulujacksonbridal in any of your shared photos, if you wish. Any photos taken by the designer during the production of the dress remain the property of Lulu Jackson Bridal and may be used at their discretion.

Refunds, Exchanges and Returns

All garments are custom made, to order, and based on the customers personal measurements therefore refunds are not provided. All items are quality controlled before the final invoice is issued. In the unlikely event a fault is missed customers will be entitled to a repair or replacement. Only in the event of a major fault, which cannot be amended, at the discretion of Lulu Jackson Bridal, would a full refund be issued. Any problems or faults must be reported to Lulu Jackson Bridal within 3 days of collection or delivery. The item must be returned for assessment within 7 days.
